Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is a empirically-supported short term behavior management program designed for children ages 2-7 experiencing behavioral and/or emotional difficulties. PCIT works with the child and caregiver together to improve overall behavior and reduce parenting stress. PCIT addresses the parent-child relationship through interaction similar to play therapy and improves the parents management of their child’s behavior teaching specific techniques to encourage cooperation. PCIT requires a 14-16 week commitment by the caregiver and child with one session per week.
