WISH LIST

The Mid-Del Shelter is looking for help with school uniforms for children and youth in our shelter.  You can contact our Shelter Director Gail Andrews at (405) 424-0177 for more information.

Mid-Del is also looking for local craftsmen, community donors, and other volunteers to turn our agency’s vision of a new master facility into reality.  Mid-Del plans on building a new shelter designed to look like a farm house, a new youth development center that is designed to look like a barn.  The youth development center will be named in honor of the late Midwest City Manger, Charles J. Johnson.  The last building we are planning on building is a counseling center designed to look like an old bunkhouse.  Help support our agency build an one of a kind, non-institutional setting that is warm, welcoming, and speaks to the heart of our mission of building brighter futures through relationship power.  If you would like to know more about how you can help us turn this vision into reality, please contact Micah Woodard at (405) 733-KIDS.

LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR

There is no question that nonprofit organizations in America are undergoing some of the most dramatic challenges, threats, and transformation in nearly forty years. Lack of community and client responsiveness, overemphasis on program activities rather than social impact results, bureaucratic paralysis, lack of innovation, rising health and operational costs have all contributed to creating an environment that can sabotage and often neutralize many well-intentioned community-based organizations in their ability to carry out their mission.

It is important for community leaders to understand the unique factors and challenges facing our local communities in their ability to respond to these challenges. As Mid-Del moves forward in building its capacity to solve community problems, it will be vital that we increase our communication and collaboration with the faith community, business sector, local governance, schools, law enforcement, social service organizations, and citizens. We passionately believe that the answer to the chaos and uncertainty of the 21 st century can be found in courageous, collaborative, and committed leadership. Mid-Del can help empower a new level of community leadership that represents the entire community and is a responsive and positive force in addressing critical social problems at the local level.

Mid-Del Youth and Family Center has pride in its accomplishments in 2003-2004 and moves forward with vision in 2004-2005. Many broad challenges and threats have been transformed into opportunities to both increase the quality and quantity of services available to youth and families. We have deployed new strategies and policies, met international accreditation standards, increased staff levels, added new staff roles, increased staff pay and benefits, but most importantly we have significantly expanded our mission outreach and service delivery capacity within the communities we serve. The Mid-Del team is building a culture founded on courage, collaboration, and commitment to do whatever it takes to realize the full potential of the Mid-Del mission, vision, and strategies.

In remaining vigilant to the commitment of courageous and collaborative leadership, we can proactively engage our clients and communities with renewed hope and resolve to solve our community problems at the community level. Peter Drucker said, “The best way to predict the future is to create it.” As each one of us chooses to deploy our courage and individual responsibility, we will participate together in building brighter futures.

Thank you for your support and continued interest in the Mid-Del mission.

Sincerely,

Micah Woodard, MSW
